KRC Genk captain Jelle Vossen hailed a memorable night for the Belgian club after they ended Videoton FC's ten-match unbeaten run at home in Europe to seal a place in the round of 32 and ensure they are still in European competition in the new year for the very first time. However, Videoton's Nemanja Nikolić and István Kovács remained defiant in defeat after a solid display which leaves the Hungarian side needing to win and rely on other results on matchday six to go through.

Jelle Vossen, Genk forward
Everybody is unbelievably happy. It's the first time that we have gone through in Europe, so it's a big night for the team and the club. Everybody knows that Videoton are solid, so it was important to score the first goal which we did and then we took control of the game. They are a difficult team to play against and they are very dangerous so it is fantastic that we took the three points and we will all go home happy. It's time to enjoy this moment. We have some good games coming up now. First, it's important to finish the job against Basel. We want to take at least one point from the game and finish the group unbeaten. Then we will see who we will play.

Elyaniv Barda, Genk midfielder
It's always good to score but important goals are the best. It was a really tough game against a team who have won twice at home in the group. We knew it would be difficult but we knew we could qualify today so we came here to win.

Nemanja Nikolić, Videoton forward
We played well and have nothing to be ashamed about. The team pressed and dominated until the end. Genk scored but afterwards we showed that we can attack and fight. We had a couple of chances which we didn't score but all is not lost. We still have a chance to reach the next round. We have showed that we can beat Sporting, and that we can play well against a good team. It's never a good time to lose an unbeaten run but with a similar performance we can win in Lisbon.

István Kovács, Videoton midfielder
As long as we have a mathematical chance we will keep hoping. We have to win in Lisbon and hope that Genk also beat Basel. We will give it our all and hope for the best after that.
