VfL Bochum 1948 have signed Germany Under-21 defender Christoph Preuss on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Relegation season
Preuss moves from Bundesliga rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen, but spent much of last season at the club he started his career, Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring three goals in 28 games as they were relegated.
Youthful prospect
The 22-year-old has made 23 appearances for Germany's U21 team and was a member of the host nation's side at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals earlier this summer.
Versatile defender
Although he usually plays in defence, Preuss is also comfortable in the midfield and UEFA Cup qualifiers Bochum hope he will prove a strong addition to their squad ahead of next season.
