Kovár and Kobylík back at Sigma

SK Sigma Olomouc have strengthened their squad with the return of former players Michal Kovár and David Kobylík.

Veteran campaigner
Kovár will bring experience to the Sigma defence, rejoining the club after a successful spell in Germany. Kovár played 244 league games for the Czech club before signing for German 2. Bundesliga side SSV Reutlingen 05 in 2001.

'Return home'
The 30 year old centre-back joined FC Hansa Rostock in 2002, but after losing his place last season, jumped at the chance of returning to Sigma, despite interest from Czech champions FC Baník Ostrava. "I wanted to return home, as I live only 500 metres from Olomouc's stadium," said Kovár who has signed a three-and-a-half year deal.

Kobylík back
Kobylík returns after a two-year loan spell at French side RC Strasbourg, and the former Czech Under-21 international will link up with his younger brother Petr at Sigma. Other new signings include FK Jablonec 97 midfield player Radim König, and striker Aleš Bednár, who has signed from second division side CU Bohemians Praha.

Kucera to leave
Olomouc have also extended the contracts of Slovakian forwards Lubomír Reiter and Peter Babnic, who between them scored 20 of the clubs' 43 league goals last season. The only player set to leave is midfield player Radim Kucera, who has had a trial at Blackburn Rovers FC.

August start
Sigma, who finished third in the Czech league last season, will kick off their UEFA Cup campaign in the second qualifying round which takes place on 12 and 26 August.
