Sporting Clube de Portugal have signed Cameroonian forward Rudolphe Mbela Douala from UD Leiria.
UEFA Cup contenders Sporting Clube de Portugal have signed Cameroonian forward Rudolphe Mbela Douala from SuperLiga rivals UD Leiria for an undisclosed fee.
The quick 24-year-old scored ten league goals last season for his side, who gained a UEFA Intertoto Cup berth. Douala, who played in France for AS Saint-Etiènne before moving to Portuguese clubs Boavista FC, CD Das Aves, Gil Vicente FC and Leiria, has signed a four-year contract at Sporting.
UEFA Cup campaign
Sporting, who finished third in the 2003/04 SuperLiga, will begin their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round on 16 September. Douala is the first signing for the new season under freshly-appointed coach José Peseiro.
