AS Roma have reached an agreement with PFC CSKA Moskva to sign striker Seydou Doumbia for an initial €14.4m.

The 27-year-old has committed to a deal with the Giallorossi running until 30 June 2019. Doumbia – part of the Ivory Coast squad that has reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, where the Elephants play Algeria on Sunday – has filled the void created by Mattia Destro's loan move to AC Milan.

Doumbia joined CSKA from BSC Young Boys in summer 2010, having started his senior career in Japan with Kashiwa Reysol and then Tokushima Vortis. In four and a half years with the Army Men he scored 61 goals in 95 Premier-Liga appearances, won two league championships and as many Russian Cups.

Doumbia faced Roma in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season. His three goals in the 2014/15 group stage all came against Manchester City FC. Roma, second in Serie A, play Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 next month.
