UEFA Europa League season by numbers

UEFA.com looks at the key statistics from 2014/15, including the fastest goal scored in the UEFA Europa League and Claudio Keşerü's record-breaking treble for FC Steaua Bucureşti.

1: Debutants Qarabağ FK became the first Azerbaijani side to win a major UEFA club competition group stage fixture thanks to Muarem Muarem's decisive strike at FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on matchday three.

4: Having won this competition three times – in 2006, 2007 and 2014 – Sevilla FC secured an unprecedented fourth UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League success by defeating Dnipro in Warsaw.

5: Following a clean sweep in the round of 32, Italy made history by providing a record number of participants in the last 16 as ACF Fiorentina, FC Internazionale Milano, SSC Napoli, AS Roma and Torino FC progressed.

6: On matchday one, FC Steaua Bucureşti and PAOK FC scored a competition-record six goals in their opening games. Steaua became the first team to do so with their 6-0 victory at home to Aalborg BK, before they were swiftly matched by PAOK – 6-1 winners at home to FC Dinamo Minsk.

8: For the second successive season, an FC Salzburg player took the UEFA Europa League top scorer prize, Alan following Jonathan Soriano despite leaving for China during the winter. That allowed Everton FC's Romelo Lukaku to catch him, the Belgian's eight goals coming in nine outings; Alan did it in five.

10: Napoli struck the woodwork for a tenth time this term in Europe – Lorenzo Insigne the last Partenopei player to do so, in their last-four first-leg home draw with Dnipro.

11: Steaua's Claudiu Keşerü set a competition record as he registered the fastest ever hat-trick, against AaB on matchday one. His three goals – between the 61st and 72nd minutes – took the record away from Steven Gerrard, who hit a 13-minute treble for Liverpool FC against Napoli in 2010/11.

12: FK Partizan and ŠK Slovan Bratislava stretched their record run of consecutive games without a victory during the group stage.

13.21: Vitolo scored the quickest ever goal in the UEFA Europa League, giving Sevilla a dream start seconds after kick-off at Villarreal CF in their round of 16 first-leg success.

14: There were group stage debuts for a number sides this term: FC Dinamo Moskva, FC Krasnodar, Qarabağ, FC Astra Giurgiu, Asteras Tripolis FC, KSC Lokeren OV, Rio Ave FC, Aalborg, EA Guingamp, Dinamo Minsk, AS Saint-Étienne, Feyenoord, HJK Helsinki and Torino.

11: Quarter-finalists Club Brugge KV established a UEFA Europa League record by going 11 matches unbeaten from the start of the group stage (15 including qualifying).

36: Two-thirds of UEFA's 54 member associations have now supplied at least one team to the competition during its six years of existence.

47: Daniel Carriço set a new record for UEFA Europa League appearances with his 45th outing in Sevilla's 2-2 draw at FC Zenit. The defender, whose first 26 games came with Sporting Clube de Portugal, subsequently moved onto 48 in the Warsaw showpiece as the holders retained their crown.

50: Sevilla coach Unai Emery took charge of his 50th UEFA Europa League fixture in Warsaw – the most by any coach in the competition.

72: PSV Eindhoven usurped Salzburg this campaign as the club with the most goals in the UEFA Europa League. They have achieved that tally in 50 matches.

92: Experience counts. The final ultimately featured the two coaches with the most appearances in the competition, group stage to final. Emery brought up his half-century while Dnipro's Myron Markevych was involved for the 42nd time.

162: In all, 195 sides competed for a final place at the National Stadium Warsaw this term – 33 having transferred from the UEFA Champions League to join the initial lineup.

1997: At 17 years and 157 days, Ante Ćorić became the tournament's fourth-youngest goalscorer by notching in added time to seal GNK Dinamo Zagreb's 5-1 matchday one win at home to Astra.

3000: Georginio Wijnaldum's equaliser for PSV in the matchday five contest at Estoril Praia was the 3,000th goal registered in the UEFA Europa League.

67,553: Four of the six biggest attendances in UEFA Europa League history arrived in 2014/15, with a record crowd of 67,553 watching FC Dynamo Kyiv's rousing comeback against Everton in the round of 16 second leg. Beşiktaş JK v Club Brugge, Besiktas v Liverpool and Dnipro v Napoli also attracted over 60,000.
