This is a very special moment – I would like to thank the city of Seville and the fans. We've all felt the responsibility of making them happy by working hard. I'd also like to congratulate Dnipro and all the fans who've come from all over Ukraine because they've had an excellent tournament and were very worthy finalists.

Now is not the time to talk about the future. I learned a long time ago that you have to live the present without thinking about the future. We have demanded a lot of ourselves so we want to enjoy our great achievement right now. The Champions League will be an eye-opener but we'll think about it in the coming days. Now we will enjoy this with our family and friends, as well as the supporters.

Mbia on 'dream' triumph

We feel great, we feel very strong – we are closer than ever to Seville, the city and the fans. When football throws up a brilliant moment, you have to live it. It's not easy to win the Europa League as you have to work hard, but obviously we want more. We now have more – we have the Champions League, and we will enjoy it fully because it's a great competition.

I believe we have demonstrated that we are a club that look to grow and to expand. We have improved as a club and will continue to do so by playing in the Champions League. Those of us who work at the club are all part of that development. We are all committed to growing and improving the performance of our players.

Our opponents were more experienced but we still tried to play the way we wanted to. However, although we worked really hard to prevent them – we knew Carlos Bacca would be a very dangerous striker – we still could not stop the second and third goals. We gave away the third ourselves, we should have just cleared the ball, but this sort of thing comes with experience.

We scored twice today, but in previous games we wouldn't have lost a match like this even if we'd only scored once. [Centre-back Douglas] has been one of our best players in every round but today was perhaps not his best game. When an attacker [Bacca] scores two goals, it is fair to say that the defender did not cope. However, we also have to say that the attacker played quite well.

To fight for the championship and to compete at this level in Europe, of course we need a few more good players.
