UEFA.com catches up with the group stage hopefuls after Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina claimed big wins and Beşiktaş beat fellow UEFA Europa League side Fenerbahçe.

Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina claimed notable scalps and Beşiktaş won the Istanbul derby as the UEFA Europa League hopefuls prepared for matchday two with another frenetic instalment of domestic games.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs caught the eye by inflicting a 4-1 defeat on Manchester City, and there were sparks too in Italy as Fiorentina triumphed by the same scoreline at Internazionale to leapfrog their hosts in top spot, after Napoli also impressed by overcoming Juventus 2-1.

In Turkey, Mario Gomez scored twice as Beşiktaş went top by beating fellow UEFA Europa League contenders Fenerbahçe. Elsewhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found the net for a record seventh consecutive game since the start of the Bundesliga season, though Dortmund were held 2-2 at home by promoted Darmstadt.
