Norwich recorded their first victory at Old Trafford since 1989 as Manchester United suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat on Saturday, and there was a shock too for fellow UEFA Europa League last-32 hopefuls Liverpool as they lost 3-0 at Watford 24 hours later.

Louis van Gaal's United – now winless in six games in all competitions – dropped to fifth in the Premier League, with Liverpool in ninth. Elsewhere, second-placed Borussia Dortmund fell eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern München heading into the winter break after going down 2-1 at Köln.
