Cuartero out with broken ribs

Real Zaragoza's Carlos Cuartero will miss the UEFA Cup tie against SK Sigma Olomouc after fracturing three ribs.

Real Zaragoza defender Luis Carlos Cuartero will miss Thursday's UEFA Cup tie against SK Sigma Olomouc after fracturing three ribs during the 4-3 Primera División victory over Levante UD yesterday.

Bad collision
The 29-year-old Zaragoza captain sustained the injury when he collided with his own goalkeeper, Luis García, after 60 minutes of that match. Cuartero is expected to be out for around six weeks so will not be fit to face the Czech side in the second leg of the UEFA Cup first-round tie, and would miss the beginning of the group stage next month should Zaragoza successfully protect their 1-0 from the home leg.
