Qualification for the round of 32 is on the line for Celta Vigo as they conclude Group G by visiting a Panathinaikos team who are certain to finish bottom of the section.

• With Ajax on 13 points and sure of first place, Celta and Standard Liège are battling to join them in the round of 32. Both have six points from five games, and if they finish level on points they will have an equal head-to-head record and therefore be split on overall goal difference, then goals scored. Standard currently have a +2 goal difference to Celta's +1, through Celta have scored one more goal.

• Having collected one point from their five matches, Panathinaikos are out.

Previous meetings
• John Guidetti (84) and Daniel Wass (89) scored late on as Panathinaikos lost 2-0 at Celta on matchday two, in what was the sides' first competitive meeting.

• Panathinaikos's record in 26 encounters with Spanish teams is W3 D7 L16 (W3 D6 L3 at home).

• Celta beat Aris Thessaloniki 4-2 on aggregate in the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup second round, their only previous brush with Greek opposition.

Form guide
• Panathinaikos's 2-0 defeat at Ajax on 24 November was the Greek club's 12th straight UEFA Europa League group stage to final game without a win, equalling the competition record shared by Partizan and Slovan Bratislava.

• Having progressed from their first three UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns, Panathinaikos have now missed the cut in their last three attempts.

• This is Celta's first continental venture since they made it through the group stage and into the last 16 of the 2006/07 UEFA Cup.

Links and trivia
• The journey from Vigo to Athens is around 2,800km.

• Panathinaikos have the worst disciplinary record in this season's group stage; like Internazionale, they have received three red cards, but they have also been shown 21 yellows – two more than any other side in the 2016/17 competition.

• Panathinaikos's Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso played in Spain with Elche, Villarreal, Espanyol and Las Palmas.

The coaches
• Andrea Stramaccioni was dismissed as Panathinaikos coach on 1 December after a worrying run of results. His replacement is Marinos Ouzounidis, a 50-times capped former Greece defender who won two titles and three Greek Cups with Panathinaikos in the 1990s.

• Eduardo Berizzo played in the UEFA Champions League for both Marseille and Celta, the former Argentina centre-back subsequently returning to Europe in 2014 to take charge of the Galician club. He guided them back into Europe with a sixth-placed finish in 2015/16.

Chapecoense commemoration
Teams taking part in all of the matchday six UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League fixtures will observe a minute's silence to pay respect to the victims of last week's air disaster involving the Chapecoense team and accompanying delegation.

The Brazilian club lost most of their players and coaching staff in the accident, which occurred in Colombia, where Chapecoense were due to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Atlético Nacional.

"European football is united in expressing its deepest sympathy to Chapecoense, the Brazilian Football Confederation [CBF], CONMEBOL and the families of all the victims," said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin. "This tragedy has shaken the world of football, and we would like to send our support to all of those affected by it."
