Senna suspended for 60 days

Villarreal CF's Marcos Senna has been suspended until 21 December after testing positive for a banned substance.

Second sample
The 28-year-old Brazilian's A sample had tested positive for Bethamethosone and Methylprednisolone. On 1 October, UEFA notified the player through his club about the findings, indicating Senna's right to ask for the analysis of the B sample. Upon his request the B sample was analysed and proved the positive findings of the A sample.

Rectroactive ban
UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body ruled the suspension will start from 21 October, when Senna was provisionally suspended, which means that the ban will run until 21 December. A fine of CHF10,000 (€6,475) has also been imposed by the UEFA disciplinary authorities.

Three games to go
Villarreal are currently third in UEFA Cup Group E, having drawn 1-1 with S.S. Lazio in their only match to date. Senna will miss the Spanish side's three remaining matches against Middlesbrough FC (25 November), FK Partizan (2 December) and Egaleo FC (15 December).
