Late substitution seals it for Sigma

SK Sigma Olomouc 2-1 FK Sarajevo SK The Czech outfit prevail but should have done better.

SK Sigma Olomouc 2-1 FK Sarajevo

Missed penalty
The match started promisingly for Sigma when they gained a penalty after a Mirzet Krupinac foul on Jaroslav Cerný in the eighth minute. However goalkeeper Alen Krak guessed right with Patrik Siegl's penalty and from then on Sigma struggled.

Early warning
Sarajevo gave their opponents early warning as Emir Obuca hit a post. They opened the score when midfielder Faruk Ihtijarevic intercepted a stray pass from David Rozehnal and passed to the unmarked Adnan Osmanhodzic, who coolly finished with his left foot.

Olomouc saviour
After Lubos Reiter somehow missed an open goal, Sigma finally equalised seconds before the interval when Pavel Putík blasted in from close range. But it was coach Bohumil Panik who set the hosts on the road to victory. He sent on Paschal Ekwueme 16 minutes before the end, just as he had in their last league match against FK Chmel Blšany, and once again the Nigerian netted the winner.

Slim advantage
Panik said afterwards he believed his side would advance despite securing only a slim advantage from the first leg. "We are playing well away from home and I think the result gives us hope for going into next round," he said. He was more satisfied with the way his team played than with the result.

Pulled muscle
His counterpart Husref Musemic praised his team for a great performance. "I'm convinced that we can repeat this achievement before our fans and go further," Musemic said. He added that his team suffered when they lost Osmanhodzic, who had to be substituted with a pulled muscle.
