All change for APOEL

Konstantinou appointment
Former Dighenis Akritas Morphou FC coach Marios Konstantinou will lead the runners-up next season, following Werner Lorant's departure. Lorant, the German trainer who parted company with APOEL after the 3-1 cup semi-final defeat by Akritas earlier this month, had succeeded Serbian coach Ivan Jovanovic in March but neither could give the capital club the success they craved.

First signing
Konstantinou, a former Cypriot international, met APOEL chairman Prodromos Petrides last Thursday and the two men agreed terms. Konstantinou has been given a two-year contract starting from today. He will be reunited with Greek striker Giorgos Nasiopoulos, 32, who is heading to APOEL after two seasons as Akritas's star player.

New man
Meanwhile, Akritas wasted no time in appointing a replacement with goalkeeper Savvas Konstantinou stepping up as their new coach. Konstantinou, 34 and a former Cypriot international, was given the nod by the club chairman Aris Stefanou after gaining the respect of his team-mates. He will be assisted by former players Georgos Frangou and Kostas Sakkas.

Happy to stay
Newly crowned champions Anorthosis have also been busy by securing the long-term future of defender Nicos Nicolaou, the club captain, and emerging left-sided player Kostas Konstantinou. Both players were happy to agree another season after meeting with club chairman Andreas Pantelis.

Goumenos secured
Also staying put is Enosis Neon Paralimniou FC club captain Demos Goumenos, with the 27-year-old midfielder agreeing a new three-year deal despite interest from other clubs at home and abroad. A further sign of Enosis's intent for next season is the acquisition of AEK striker Eleftherios Eleftheriou on a two-year contract, another Cypriot international.

Talented signing
Not to be outdone, Cyprus Cup winners AC Omonia, who finished third in the league, have signed the 28-year-old Serbian defender Sinisa Dobrasinovic from Akritas. Dobrasinovic, who has signed a one-year deal with the Nicosia club, is the first player to sign for Omonia this summer. The former Apollon Limassol FC player first moved to the island in 2000 from Belgian football.

New faces
Finally, Olympiakos Nicosia FC will hope their attempt to build on fourth place in 2005/06 will be boosted by the arrival of Nea Salamina FC midfielder Nicos Nicolaou on a two-year deal and English defender Norman Miles on a three-year contract.
