CA Osasuna have made their first summer signing with the capture of former Manchester United FC goalkeeper Ricardo López on a two-year contract.
The 33-year-old was released by United at the end of the 2004/05 campaign after never managing to claim a regular place in his three seasons with the English Premiership club. Ricardo will replace the outgoing Richard Sanzol and faces a battle with Juantxo Elía for the No1 spot.
Osasuna director Juan José Lorenzo said: "We knew that if we were going to replace Sanzol, it had to be with a goalkeeper who was at least his equal if not better." Meanwhile, the club, who qualified for the UEFA Cup by reaching the Spanish Cup final, are hoping to secure Australia striker John Aloisi on a new deal.
