Legia make double signing

Polish champions Legia Warszawa have unveiled two new signings to boost their title defence.

Polish champions Legia Warszawa have unveiled two new signings to boost their title defence.

Five games unbeaten
Legia have signed Marek Saganowski on a free transfer after his contract with Odra Wodzislaw was terminated, while Lukasz Surma has arrived for €250,000 from KS Ruch Chorzów. After five games of the new season, Legia are third with two wins and three draws.

Free transfer
The 24-year-old Saganowski failed to find regular first-team football abroad at Feyenoord and Hamburger SV, and is now hoping to kick-start his career at Legia.

Preferred destination
Surma is a 25-year-old playmaker who has spent the last five years with Ruch, after previously playing for TS Wisla Kraków. "I preferred to join Legia rather than play for Wisla again," he said. "It was the third chance for me to move to Warsaw and finally it has happened."

Many moves
Legia were not the only club busy in the transfer market. Wisla Plock signed Lithuanian Aidas Preiksaitis from FK Zalgiris Vilnius while bottom club Pogon Szczecin released winger Bartosz Lawa on a free transfer and he immediately joined KS Amica Wronki.

Two more
Elsewhere, Edward Cecot moved to Ruch on a free after his contract with Zaglebie Lubin ended and Krzysztof Majda, after being released by Groclin Grodzisk Wlkp, found a new home at GKS Katowice.
