Midtjylland get their man early

Midfielder Simon Poulsen has joined FC Midtjylland from SønderjyskE while Esbjerg fB also have a new face.

'Top player'
The 21-year-old Danish youth international was due to sign on 1 January but Midtjylland were keen to bring the deal forward due to their involvement in the UEFA Cup. "In Simon we have got ourselves a top left-sided player," said sports director Jens Ørgaard. As compensation, Midtjylland midfielder Thomas Rathe has gone in the opposite direction on loan for the season.

Demba arrival
Meanwhile, their Superliga rivals Esbjerg fB have reinforced their forward line by signing a four-year contract with striker Nyren Njogu Demba from Greek club Panathinaikos FC. "Demba is big, strong in the air, he has a fine right foot shot, and he is fast and physically strong," said Esbjerg coach Ove Pedersen. The 26-year-old was born in Gambia, but moved to Sweden at the age of eight. He was available on a free transfer.
