Moldovan to miss Rapid trip

AFC Rapid Bucuresti are resigned to being without Viorel Moldovan for the first leg of their UEFA Cup tie against Hertha BSC Berlin due to a leg injury.

Painful injury
The 33-year-old striker, newly signed from FCU Politehnica Timisoara, suffered a muscle tear during Rapid's training camp in Cyprus and is certain to miss the 15 February trip to Hertha. Doctors fear he may also sit out the second leg in Bucharest eight days later.

Tough friendlies
The Romanian club failed to win any of their three friendly matches in Cyprus, losing 2-1 against Bulgaria's PFC Litex Lovech, going down 3-0 against Ukraine's FC Metalurh Donetsk and drawing 2-2 with Estonia's FC Levadia Maardu, but coach Razvan Lucescu was not unduly concerned. "I was not interested in the results and they don't mean anything," said Lucescu.
