Double injury blow for Hertha

Hertha BSC Berlin will be without midfielders Yıldıray Baştürk and Gilberto for the second leg of their UEFA Cup first-round tie at Odense BK next week.

Hertha BSC Berlin will be without midfielders Yıldıray Baştürk and Gilberto for the second leg of their UEFA Cup first-round tie against Odense BK next week.

Expensive win
Tests on Monday revealed that Turkish international Bastürk sustained ligament damage in his left knee during Hertha's 2-0 win over FC Schalke 04 yesterday, which lifted the club to the top of the table. The 27-year-old will be out of action for the next three weeks.

Out for Odense
To make matters worse, coach Falko Götz will also be without 30-year-old Brazilian left-winger Gilberto, who is expected to miss the next eight weeks after rupturing ligaments in his left ankle during the same match. Both have been ruled out of Hertha’s trip to Danish side OB on 28 September when the German league leaders will look to improve on last week's 2-2 first-leg draw.
