Giants in peril in final fixtures

The UEFA Cup group stage concludes this week with Feyenoord, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain FC among the big sides facing elimination.

Final placings
The Matchday 5 fixtures will be spread over Wednesday and Thursday nights, and while many teams are still battling to play in the knockout rounds in 2007, others have an eye on their final position in their respective sections. The club finishing top of each pool is guaranteed a tie against one of the third-placed finishers from another group in the Round of 32 draw on 15 December, while each runner-up will meet one of the eight third-placed finishers from the UEFA Champions League groups - Werder Bremen, FC Spartak Moskva, FC Girondins de Bordeaux, FC Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Steaua Bucuresti, SL Benfica, PFC CSKA Moskva and AEK Athens FC. uefa.com breaks down the qualifying situation group by group.

Group A
Rangers FC and Maccabi Haifa FC are already through to the next stage. Rangers can guarantee top spot with a draw or better at home to eliminated FK Partizan. AJ Auxerre will qualify if they avoid defeat against AS Livorno Calcio in France - and will leapfrog Maccabi into second place if they win.

Group B
Tottenham Hotspur FC will advance as group leaders unless their colours are lowered by visitors FC Dinamo 1948 Bucuresti. Leverkusen will deny Beşiktaş JK a ticket to the Round of 32 and progress themselves if they overcome their Turkish opponents in Germany.

Group C
Sevilla FC and AZ Alkmaar are battling for pole position as they go head-to-head at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium - the UEFA Cup holders must win to finish top. SC Braga require maximum points at home against Grasshopper-Club to steal the section's third qualifying slot from FC Slovan Liberec.

Group D
Parma FC are confirmed as group winners as they host CA Osasuna, who have to draw at least to be sure of progressing. A three-goal margin of victory at home to RC Lens would lift SC Heerenveen above the French team and Odense BK in the standings and might also better Osasuna's final tally. A high-scoring two-goal win - 5-3 or more - would allow them to overtake OB but not Lens.

Group E
The meeting in England of Blackburn Rovers FC and AS Nancy-Lorraine, the guaranteed top-two finishers, will decide first place and Blackburn cannot afford to lose. Feyenoord will be out of contention if they fail to win their final game at home against Wisła Kraków.

Group F
RCD Espanyol are all but confirmed as group victors with SV Zulte Waregem also destined for the last 32. AFC Ajax will confirm their progress with anything other than a five-goal reverse against Zulte Waregem in Belgium.

Group G
PSG will escape elimination if they can prevail at home against pacesetters Panathinaikos FC. FK Mladá Boleslav can also still advance provided they win away to Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC. Panathinaikos are the only side sure of a place in Friday's draw.

Group H
Newcastle United FC have won the group. RC Celta de Vigo will join them in the knockout phase by taking one point or more from their trip to US Città di Palermo. Fenerbahçe SK will cling on to a qualifying spot if they take something from the visit of Eintracht Frankfurt.
