'No explanations'
Shum, who took over at the beginning of the season and guided Hapoel into the UEFA Cup knockout rounds for the first time, was told of the decision in a specially arranged meeting with the board on Sunday night. "All I am willing to say is that I am proud of my achievements at Hapoel and I am proud of my players," he said. "I will not go into the reasons which led to this decision as I wasn't part of it. The board just told me of their decision and gave no explanations."

Shum leaves Hapoel in second spot in the Ligat Ha'Al, three points behind leaders Beitar Jerusalem FC. They have only won one of their last four league games, however, including Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Hapoel Kfar-Saba FC.
