Hetemaj fracture rocks AEK

AEK Athens FC defender Perparim Hetemaj is expected to be out for the remainder of the season after breaking his ankle on international duty with Finland.

AEK Athens FC defender Perparim Hetemaj is expected to be out for the remainder of the season after breaking his ankle on international duty with Finland.

Broken ankle
The 20-year-old, who played in four UEFA Champions League games for AEK in the autumn, was carried off the pitch 22 minutes into a 2-2 draw between a Finland selection and a Scotland B team at Kilmarnock FC's Rugby Park with subsequent examinations showing that he had broken his ankle.

'Really irritating'
It was the first time the former HJK Helsinki player had been called into Roy Hodgson's senior selection. "I just have to look forward to next season," said Hetemaj. "It's really irritating - everything was going so well both here and in Athens." AEK play Paris Saint-Germain FC in the first leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie next Wednesday.
