Sutton's bad break

Chris Sutton will miss Celtic FC's UEFA Cup quarter-final second leg against Liverpool FC with a wrist injury.

Celtic FC striker Chris Sutton will be sidelined for six weeks after breaking his wrist in the Scottish League Cup final defeat against Rangers FC on Sunday.

Aerial challenge
Sutton was immediately taken to hospital for an operation on his hand after he felt the full brunt of a challenge from team-mate Dianbobo Balde in the 79th minute of the Hampden Park encounter which Rangers won 2-1. Sutton and Balde both rose for an aerial ball as they tried to rescue the game and the Englishman came off worst when the defender unwittingly landed on him.

Anfield encounter
Sutton, 30, will now miss Celtic's UEFA Cup quarter-final second leg against Liverpool FC on Thursday, as well as crucial matches in the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup. The first leg of the European tie ended level at 1-1 and Celtic will sorely miss the presence of the striker who scored in an earlier round against Blackburn Rovers FC.
