Versatile Taylor bolsters Bolton

Bolton Wanderers FC have continued to add to their squad with the acquisition of former England Under-21 midfielder Matthew Taylor from Portsmouth FC.

UEFA Cup contenders Bolton Wanderers FC have continued to add to their squad by signing Portsmouth FC's left-sided midfielder Matthew Taylor.

Versatile
The former England Under-21 player has accepted a three-and-a-half year deal after leaving Bolton's Premier League rivals for an undisclosed fee. Taylor, 26, can also operate at left-back and joined Portsmouth in 2002 from Luton Town FC, winning promotion in his first Fratton Park season.

'Quality player'
Bolton manager Gary Megson, who has already recruited midfielder Tamir Cohen and right-back Grétar Steinsson in the transfer window, said: "Matt is a quality player who is very versatile on the left-hand side. He is a proven Premier League performer who will bring quality to our squad." Bolton face Club Atlético de Madrid in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 next month.
