Club Atlético de Madrid midfielder Juan Valera will be sidelined for three weeks after a scan confirmed he has torn his right thigh muscle.

Cup disappointment
The 23-year-old limped off midway through the second half of the Copa Del Rey quarter-final second leg against Valencia CF, moments after scoring his side's final goal as Atlético won 3-2 on the night but lost out on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw. Valera, who has made four Primera División appearances this season, is now set to miss the Madrid club's next three league games and the first leg of the UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie against Bolton Wanderers FC in Spain on 14 February. The return match takes place seven days later.
