Bolton lure Rasiak, release Wilhelmsson

Bolton Wanderers FC have landed Southampton FC's Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak on loan while allowing Christian Wilhelmsson to join RC Deportivo La Coruña.

Bolton Wanderers FC have landed Southampton FC's Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak on loan while allowing Christian Wilhelmsson to join RC Deportivo La Coruña.

Temporary deal
Rasiak, 29, signs for Gary Megson's team on a deal until the end of the season, helping to fill the void left by Nicolas Anelka's departure for Chelsea FC. However, Sweden winger Wilhelmsson, 28, who belongs to French club FC Nantes Atlantique, has been released by the Premier League side and goes to Deportivo on loan. Capped 37 times by Poland, Rasiak has also played in England with Derby County FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, before moving to Southampton in 2005/06. Wilhelmsson, meanwhile, managed only eight top-flight substitute appearances having arrived at Bolton in the summer. Deportivo sit second from bottom in the Primera División.

'Fire power'
"Grzegorz is a big, powerful centre-forward who knows where the back of the net is. He will bring more fire power to the squad and allows us extra attacking options," said Megson. If registered, Rasiak will be available for Bolton's UEFA Cup Round of 32 encounters with Club Atlético de Madrid, with the first leg taking place in north-west England on 14 February.
