PSV Eindhoven have received a boost ahead of their UEFA Cup quarter-final second leg against ACF Fiorentina after tests showed no serious damage to goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes' calf muscle.

Special training programme
The Brazilian felt the problem an hour into PSV's away leg in Italy on Thursday after taking a goal kick and had to be replaced by Bas Roorda. "I was very worried because the pain was so bad," Gomes told the club website. "But luckily nothing is damaged and I can continue to play this season." Gomes will undergo a special training programme in which the injury can be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. The club are unsure if he will be available for Sunday's Eredivisie game against Heracles Almelo, but he should be fit to face Fiorentina on Thursday with the tie poised at 1-1.
