They may be among the Bundesliga's top scorers but VfL Wolfsburg have further boosted their striking reserves after signing Japanese international Yoshito Okubo from Vissel Kobe for a deal worth in the region of €2m.

Attacking options
The 26-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Lower Saxony outfit, and despite having scored 35 goals in 17 league games this season, Felix Magath is delighted to have another forward to call upon. "He can play in nearly every position in the attack," said the coach. "I'm glad that there is now one more player in my team who has the skills to score."

Mallorca spell
For Okubo the transfer marks a return to Europe following a mixed 18-month spell in Spain with RCD Mallorca between January 2005 and July 2006, where he registered just five times in 39 league outings. "I want to play and score frequently," he said after signing for Wolfsburg. "I have developed during my time in Kobe and now I'm ready to push myself further." Capped 32 times by Japan, Okubo struck 64 goals in 149 matches in the J.League for Vissel and his first club, Cerezo Osaka.
