Tottenham Hotspur FC are close to signing Wilson Palacios from Wigan Athletic FC after the Honduras midfielder passed a medical at White Hart Lane.
A Spurs statement said: "Personal terms have been agreed and a medical completed. We now await the Honduran international receiving his work permit before completing his registration." The 24-year-old was first signed by Steve Bruce on loan when he was in charge at Birmingham City FC at the start of the 2007/08 season. Palacios subsequently followed the manager to Wigan – where he made 37 Premier League appearances – in a permanent move that January.
Bought for €1.1m from Deportivo Olimpia, reports suggest he has been sold for 14 times that amount as Spurs prepare for the resumption of their UEFA Cup campaign against FC Shakhtar Donetsk. The first leg will be played in Ukraine on 19 February, with the tie concluding in London a week later.
