Unlucky break
The 28-year-old suffered a fracture when he twisted his right foot during the Bundesliga season opener. According to club doctor Ulrich Schleicher, he faces a six to eight-week recovery period before he can begin training again. Team-mate Fredi Bobic said: "He is not a player you can easily replace."
Missing out
Marcelinho, who has missed only two Bundesliga matches since joining Hertha in summer 2001, is likely to be unavailable for the first round of the UEFA Cup on 24 September.
