Sporting Clube de Portugal have lost Brazilian striker Elpídeo Silva for a month with a fractured jaw.
The Brazilian, who joined Sporting from Boavista FC this summer, suffered a fracture of the jaw in a collision with reserve-team defender José Fonte in training on Tuesday.
'Four weeks maximum'
Silva underwent surgery on Tuesday evening and according to club doctor Gomes Pereira, he will be out "for four weeks maximum". Sporting have sold Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma this summer and coach Fernando Santos will hope to have Silva back in time for the first round of the UEFA Cup next month.
