Czech futsal champions FK EP Chrudim have appointed Daniel Ibañes Caetano as their new coach for the upcoming campaign.

The 37-year-old former Spanish international has a wealth of futsal experience having triumphed at the 2000 FIFA Futsal World Cup as well as winning both the UEFA Futsal EURO and UEFA Futsal Cup on four occasions. The new coach will look to maintain the high standards at Chrudim, with the club having clinched the Czech championship seven seasons in a row and nine times in total.

"I have chosen Chrudim because it is a club that has a great name in Europe," said the Brazilian-born Daniel, who earned more than 100 Spain caps in his playing career. "The team is well-balanced with experienced and ambitious young players. They have big ambitions which suits me. We would like to fulfil our dreams in the UEFA Futsal Cup – we have to be 100% ready for this challenge."

Chrudim president František Tichý added: "It was not easy to find a new coach – in the end we narrowed our focus on four candidates. For us it was very important to listen to advice from our former coach Cacau." Chrudim will start their UEFA Futsal Cup programme in the main round, seeking to reach the last four for the first time.
