AC Omonia and debutants Vegakameratene are the first teams through from the UEFA Futsal Cup preliminary round after the second day of action.

Norwegian representatives Vegakameratene beat Group D hosts MFC Varna 5-3 in Bulgaria on Saturday and followed that up with a 3-2 defeat of Denmark's BGA Futsal. Kim Rune Ovesen scored either side of the break and Petter Høvik made it 3-0, but they only just held on as Kevin Jørgensen claimed two quick goals and then hit the post when acting as a flying keeper.

As for Varna, they followed up with an exciting 8-5 win against Iceland's Fjölnir – and that left Vegakameratene unassailable at the top of the section regardless of Tuesday's concluding results. They progress to main round Group 4 next month against Czech regulars FK EP Chrudim, Polish hosts Akademia FC Pniewy and Belgium's MFC Real Chatelineau.

A route to the main round also opened up for Omonia in Group G after their Saturday victims Paris Sporting Club, inspired by Betinho, defeated Erebuni Yerevan 6-1 in the early game in Nicosia. That meant Omonia, who came back from 3-0 down to beat Paris 5-4, knew a win against KS Flamurtari would take them into the next stage.

Flamurtari had overcome Erebuni 5-1 on Saturday but missed an early chance through Adi Aloviç and were then overwhelmed by Omonia. Manolis Manoli and Andrejs Aleksejevs stood out in a 6-0 win, and Serbia will now be Omonia's main round destination – where hosts KMF Ekonomac Kragujevac, Ukraine's Uragan Ivano-Frankovsk and Israeli team Asa Ben Gurion await in Group 6.

Group E began on Sunday in Vienna and could also potentially be decided tomorrow. Hungarian side Győri ETO FC, boasting a strong mix of home and Romanian internationals, saw off FC Anzhi Tallinn 9-0 with four different double goalscorers, including the impressive Zoltán Dróth.

After that game, Helvécia Futsal London, who face Győr on Monday, overcame hosts Stella Rossa Wien 7-3 with a clinical display. If Helvécia win tomorrow and Anzhi do not beat Wien, they would become the first English side to pass through a round of this competition in nine attempts. Likewise, Győr will progress regardless of Wednesday's results if they prevail and the Austrian hosts do not, with the winners of this mini-tournament to go into a main round group containing FC Barcelona.

Also on Monday, Group A starts in Scotland and Group C kicks off in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Two further sections commence later in the week.
