The groups in the UEFA Champions League path were set by the senior draw.

The UEFA Champions League draw in Istanbul also set the groups for that path of the UEFA Youth League, featuring the same teams with similar fixture lists to be confirmed in the coming days.

• The eight group winners will progress straight to the round of 16.

• The eight runners-up will go into the play-offs against the winners from the domestic champions path, who will emerge after two knockout rounds featuring 32 initial entrants (to be drawn on Wednesday).

Team guide

• Along with holders Benfica (who also won the first Under-20 Intercontinental Cup on Sunday), all past champions are involved including joint-record two-time winners Barcelona and Chelsea, plus Porto, Real Madrid and Salzburg (who lost the 2022 final).

• Ajax, Atlético, Barcelona, Bayern München, Benfica, Juventus, Manchester City, Paris, Porto and Real Madrid maintain their perfect record of having entered all nine editions of this competition, which began in 2013/14.

• Debutants Frankfurt are the 11th different German entrants, equalling Spain's record (as do France, with Nantes in the domestic champions path).
