Victories for Denmark, Netherlands and England

The Netherlands' Che Nunnely scored with two minutes left to defeat Italy on a dramatic day when Denmark struck in added time against Sweden and England overcame holders France.

Group C
Denmark 1-0 Sweden
Sebastian Buch Jensen settled the Nordic derby with a goal three minutes into added time. It was just reward for a Denmark side that dominated possession from the off and hit the upright through Carlo Holse in the second half. Sweden, who shocked England on Friday, were set for a point until they were caught out at the last. Sørensen, introduced after 63 minutes along with Buch Jensen, crossed from halfway to the far side of the penalty area, where his fellow substitute did the rest.

France 0-2 England
England put the disappointment of their opening-night reverse behind them by beating the holders, who are in serious danger of being eliminated. Ben Morris tapped Steve Cooper's charges into the lead (15), rounding off a lovely move involving Mason Mount and Andre Dozzell. That came after France's Rafik Guitane had smacked the crossbar from outside the area during an open start. The game slipped from Les Petits Bleus' reach entirely, however, three minutes into the second half when keeper Gaëtan Poussin was dismissed for clattering into Reiss Nelson, who confidently tucked away the resulting penalty.

Group D
Italy 0-1 Netherlands
Che Nunnely was in the right place to head the Netherlands to victory on a hot afternoon at Qarabağ Stadium. Dylan Vente hooked back a deep cross from Justin Kluivert, not long on, and the Ajax winger applied the final touch with two minutes left. The Oranje were strengthened by the return from suspension of four players. Like Italy, they needed no invitation to push their full-backs on, Tyrell Malacia and the Azzurrini's indefatigable Alessandro Tripaldelli particularly sprightly down their respective left flanks. The result was harsh on Italy, for whom Andrea Pinamonti struck the far post. Their disappointment was compounded when the dangerous Moise Kean was sent off with seconds remaining.

Serbia 1-1 Spain
Spain are a point clear of Italy and the Netherlands at the top of Group D after being pegged back by Dejan Joveljić's 59th-minute penalty. Outrushing Roja keeper Ignacio Peña tripped Stefan Ilić and the Crvena zvezda forward held his nerve, placing the ball just inside the Spain No1's right-hand post. A long afternoon for Serbia seemed in store when Santi Denia's team forged ahead early on, the lively Jordi Mboula delivering a high cross from the right for Abel Ruiz to volley in his second goal of the finals.
