Article body
Yugoslavia booked their place in the last eight of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship as they swept past the Czech Republic with an impressive 3-1 win.
Determined fashion
With a place in the quarter-finals at stake, Yugoslavia started in determined fashion and their early pressure paid off after 15 minutes. Simon Vukcevic underlined his status as one of the brightest striking prospects in Europe by adding another goal to the hat-trick he scored in his side's opening match against Moldova.
Purovíc on target
Yugoslavia looked in control but the Czechs restored parity in the 59th minute, when Petr Kobylik managed to get the final touch following a goalmouth scramble. It did not remain that way for long, however, as the lively Milan Purovíc reclaimed the lead for Yugoslavia seven minutes later. He slid in behind his marker to steer the ball into the far corner past a helpless Ales Hruska.
Last eight
Moments later Purovíc scored his second of the afternoon when he burst into the box and flicked the ball past a despairing Hruska to confirm Yugoslavia's participation in the quarter-finals.
