Perfect record boosts Belgium

Belgium moved through with maximum points from Group 6, with the Czech Republic also advancing in second place.

Belgium and the Czech Republic moved through to the second round of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship after claiming the first two places in Group 6.

Perfect record
Bob Browaey's Belgian side finished top of the section with a maximum nine points from their three games, with the Czechs three points adrift. Bosnia-Herzegovina, with three points, came third, but not with a good enough record to stay in the hunt for the second-round place on offer to the best third-placed side from round one, while Liechtenstein finished bottom with no points.

Resounding win
Jakob Dovalil's Czech challengers opened with an emphatic 5-1 victory against Liechtenstein in Bocholt, taking the lead in the tenth minute through Zdenek Šturma. Karnil Vacek added a second four minutes past the half-hour, with Martin Fenin and Jiró Jeslínek both scoring early in the second half. A Petr Pavlík own goal gave Josef Weikl's side what would prove to be their only goal of the competition, before Vacek completed the win.

Opening success
Hosts Belgium got their campaign off to a perfect start in Maasmechelen with a 3-1 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina, although they had to wait until the hour mark to make the breakthrough before Kevin Mirallas found the target. Jordan Remacle doubled the lead four minutes later and, although Daniel Savic halved the deficit with 17 minutes left, Wouter Cortjens's 79th-minute strike wrapped up the points.

Mareš magic
The Czech Republic secured a second 5-1 win in their next game, brushing aside Bosnia-Herzegovina in Maasmechelen. Jakub Mareš gave the Czechs the lead from the penalty spot midway through the first period, and two goals in three minutes just before half-time, from Fenin and Mareš again, put Dovalil's team in complete control. Fenin scored his second of the match nine minutes into the second period, with Mareš completing his hat-trick in the 66th minute before Adnan Krhan scored a consolation three minutes later.

Belgium hit eight
Belgium were even more emphatic victors, brushing aside Liechtenstein 8-0 in Bocholt. Jorn Vermeulen and Timothy Derijck both scored twice before half-time, with Sebastien Pocognoli and Mirallas also finding the net in the first 45 minutes, before Floribert Ngalula and Christian Kabeya added further goals early in the second half.

Decisive result
The hosts secured top position in the group with a 2-1 win against the Czech Republic in Maamechelen. Anthony Vanden Borre gave Belgium the lead five minutes after the interval, and although Fenin equalised, Remacle secured the points 14 minutes from time.

Consolation win
Velimir Stofnic's side ended their campaign with a 4-0 win against Liechtenstein, with Christoph Bühler's own goal giving Bosnia-Herzegovina a half-time advantage before second-half strikes from Edin Cocalic, Ozren Peric and Senad Hodžic sealed the result.
