Moldova and Poland's bids to reach the UEFA European Under-17 Championship final tournament for the first time since 2002 remain on course after they emerged unbeaten from qualifying round Group 8.
Moldova survive scare
Beginning the mini-tournament as they meant to go on in Szubin, Moldova defeated Liechtenstein 4-2. However, it was the Alpine nation that struck first, Julien Hasler taking just three minutes to score. It remained 1-0 until 13 minutes into the second half when Mihail Turcan equalised, and within four minutes Alexandr Dedov had put Moldova in front. He converted a penalty ten minutes later and Iuri Bondarciuc claimed Moldova's fourth. Marco Wolfinger pulled one back in the 79th minute. Group hosts Poland then overcame Norway 2-0 in Bydgoszcz. Grzegorz Krychowiak's eighth-minute goal was added to by Mateusz Machaj just after the half-hour.
Pair through
Two days later, the leading duo were through to the Elite round draw, having each claimed 2-0 wins. Poland's success against Lichtenstein in Torun came with a ninth-minute Michael Janota effort and a late Radoslaw Kursa goal. Meanwhile, Moldova saw off Norway in Swiecie thanks to two goals early in the second half from Alexandr Pascenco and Dedov.
Norway consolation
With their qualification secure, Poland and Moldova played out a 0-0 draw in Szubin, the former Soviet Republic claiming first place on goals scored. In Torun, Norway gained third place by overcoming Liechtenstein 3-1, although Hasler repeated his Matchday 1 trick, opening the scoring on 56 minutes. Mohammed Fellah swiftly equalised and with two minutes left Andreas Aakre put Norway ahead, with the victory being sealed soon after by a Stefan Andersen goal.
