Kjartansson, who had two spells in charge of the full national team during the 1980s, has overseen the U19s for 13 years now. They failed to reach the second qualifying round of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship by just one point.
Group qualifiers
Kostic coached Grindavík and KR Reykjavík before taking over the U17s just over a year ago. He has guided them to the second group stage of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship after wins against Albania and Lithuania. His team now face England, Norway and Armenia in the next phase of the competition, which starts in March. Sverrisson, meanwhile, was a player and coach at Keflavík before being appointed by the U16s.
