UEFA has confirmed the match schedule for the finals of the 2005/06 UEFA European Under-17 Championship - one of the highlights of UEFA's youth football calendar - with hosts Luxembourg facing Spain in Hesperange on the opening day.
Opening games
On Thursday Ronny Bonvini's Luxembourg, in their first major finals, were drawn in Group A with the Spanish, Hungary and Russia. The latter two will meet in Mondorf in one of the first pair of games to kick off on 3 May, the other matching Group B rivals Belgium and Germany in Ettelbruck. Later Serbia and Montenegro play the Czech Republic in that pool in Dudelange.
Televised matches
Further group fixtures follow on 5 and 8 May, the semi-finals three days later and the third-place play-off and final at Luxembourg's national Josy Barthel stadium on Sunday 14 May. Six venues in all will be used in the Grand Duchy. Eurosport, UEFA's television partner for the Youth Competitions, will broadcast nine matches live during the tournament, including the final and semi-finals.
