The Czech Republic confirmed their credentials as potential UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers with a comfortable defeat of Kazakhstan in their opening Elite round Group 2 fixture in Benidorm.
Kadlec double
Highly-rated AC Sparta Praha striker Václav Kadlec struck twice to take his tally at U17 level to 16 goals in 25 appearances, and Roman Polom was also on target as the Czech Republic claimed all three of their goals before the break. Coach Josef Pešice said: "The first half was excellent on our part. We were smart and well-organised, and three goals before half-time decides a match. In the second half we were too individualistic, but overall it was a good result." On Saturday his side will face Belgium, who came back from two down to draw 2-2 with reigning champions Spain, who Kazakhstan now meet.
