England turned the tables on Portugal to make a winning start to UEFA European Under-17 Championship Elite round Group 7 in Hungary.

Freeman winner
Portugal had beaten England in two separate friendly tournaments this season but it was a different story today in Szombathely, as a tight game was decided when Luke Freeman turned in John Bostock's cross just before the hour. "I'm delighted with the way we played today," England manager John Peacock said. "Everyone did what was expected of them; we had a game plan and they carried it out from start to finish." On Friday, John Peacock's side take on Serbia, a nation they beat in dramatic style two years ago to reach the finals, while Portugal face the Hungarian hosts.
