• Modernisation began in 1997 and in April 2004 the new West Stand opened, with reflectors placed in each corner on concrete towers for night games two years later.

• Slovenia beat Estonia 1-0 in a friendly in the stadium on 7 February 2007.

• Domžale were Slovenian champions in 2007 and 2008, having in 2005/06 previously achieved a famous result with a 1-0 win against VfB Stuttgart in the UEFA Cup.

• The city of Domzale is known for its diverse crafts and 13th-century Krumperk Castle.
