Ajax show faith in Blind

Danny Blind's son Daley has signed his first professional contract with AFC Ajax, just days after helping the Netherlands through to the U17 finals.

Daley Blind has capped a memorable week by signing his first professional contract with AFC Ajax - just days after helping the Netherlands through to the 2007 UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals.

Father's footsteps
The 17-year-old has committed to the Amsterdam ArenA until July 2010, raising hopes that he could follow in the footsteps of father Danny, who claimed a clean sweep of UEFA's blue-riband club trophies during a hugely successful 13-year spell at Ajax. He also won 42 international caps and son Daley is already making an impact for the Oranje, having played in a 1-0 victory against Turkey on Sunday that clinched his team a place in May's U17 finals in Belgium. Blind has been on Ajax's books since June 1998 and the club's technical director Martin van Geel believes he is "one of the biggest talents we have".
