Victory
In the first match on Tuesday, Özgür Çek's 26th-minute goal was cancelled out by George Sofroni after the break for a 1-1 draw. But, two days later, Batuhan Karadeniz and Cem Sultan were on target as Turkey won 2-1. Coach Şenol Ustaömer said: "Our team has been together since they were U15 and played nearly 50 matches within two years. We have high hopes as they have won leading international friendly tournaments. Now we should repeat this with the UEFA European U17 Championship."

Promising results
Turkey, who will face the Netherlands, Scotland and Serbia in Group A in the finals in Antalya from 4 May, have indeed been in fine form all season as they have waited for their competitive bow. Between July and December they lost just one of 12 fixtures, winning seven, and in January they travelled to Israel for the Winter Tournament and beat Ukraine 1-0 and the hosts 4-0 to finish first. Later that month, they took on Romania for the first time and also drew once and won once, before collecting two 1-1 draws with Israel in February and a 2-1 victory in Switzerland on 5 March.
