Maybe we hit the ball long a bit too much when we should have kept it on the ground more. But it was a good Italy in terms of possession. My lads played with intensity and tactical awareness and I have to say that they passed some tests of character in moments when we were suffering physically and psychologically. To have reached the final – the first in Italy's history at Under-17 level – gives us reason to feel satisfied and proud.
• 4-4-2 implemented with discipline and tactical maturity
• Frequent use of lofted pass to big target striker Alberto Cerri (No9)
• Otherwise, patient possession play; full-backs pushing forward
• Attacks supported by central midfielders, especially Mario Pugliese (No4)
• Intelligent off-the-ball movement to provide passing options
• Disciplined defending, often with high line to maintain compact block
• Technique, fitness and concentration maintained throughout tournament
