I was only happy with the first halves of the three games we played, but participation was a huge plus for Ukrainian football. It was a school for the players. We worked hard and tried to compensate for shortcomings in technique with will-to-win and athletic qualities but results are not always good. We have all the conditions to be successful at youth level and the lads have been at academies for ten years. This tournament was equal to those ten years in terms of gathering experience.
• 4-2-3-1 with interchanging wingers supporting lone striker
• Mix of direct passing to front; build-up through midfield; solo actions in final third
• Extensive use of diagonal balls and penetrating passes behind defence
• Good balance between screening midfielders Bogdan Kuksenko (No4) and Beka Vachiberadze (No10)
• Vachiberadze key in build-up; Olexandr Zinchenko (No17) creative support striker
• Deep defensive block with fast attack-to-defence transitions
• Strong team spirit, tactical awareness, fitness, mental strength, 1 v 1 ability
