Belgium coach Thierry Siquet

Coach: Thierry Siquet
18/10/68
"We performed at a good level and the players most definitely benefited from the experience. We learned how important it is to take scoring chances because we had nine or ten against Azerbaijan yet allowed them to equalise with the only chance they had. In the quarter-final, Germany were stronger than us. My players looked a bit tired in the fourth game with the same team, save one or two changes. It was difficult against physically strong opponents."

• 1-4-3-3 with Daouda Peeters influential as single screening midfielder
• Possession-based game built on well-organised defending, risk-management
• Mile Svilar an all-round keeper, good with feet, initiating build-up from back
• Emphasis on wing play supported by two attack-minded full-backs
• Strong collective defending; fierce pressure on ball-carrier from midfield
• Good technique; approach play based on neat combinations
• Hardworking side with team ethic, clear philosophy, will-to-win
