Scotland coach Scot Gemmill

Coach: Scot Gemmill

"My players went home better for the experience of being here. It's important to stress the level the boys are playing at. We worked very hard to qualify for the final tournament and it showed us exactly what is required to compete at the top. This was very important for the development of these lads and it’s also important that, no matter what the results were, we could regard the tournament as a positive step in the right direction."

• 1-4-4-2 with either diamond or flat midfield; 1-4-1-4-1 v Azerbaijan
• Non-possession-based game with emphasis on long passing
• Quick defence-to-attack transitions based on direct passing to strikers
• One advanced target man, one shadow striker, both working hard
• Aggressive high pressing aimed at disturbing opponents’ build-up
• Fraser Hornby the main link between lines as controlling midfielder
• High-energy game played with commitment and collective spirit
