Armenia on brink of best

Belgium 0-1 Armenia Martin Mkrtumiyan's 67th-minute winner gives Armenia a chance of a first qualification.

Mkrtumiyan winner
Belgium led the way after the opening games, having overcome mini-tournament hosts Hungary 4-1 while Samvel Petrosyan's side played out a goalless draw with Italy. But Martin Mkrtumiyan's 67th-minute goal proved enough for Armenia to gain victory in Andrashida and keep alive their hopes of making their first finals of any UEFA national team event.

Tuesday deciders
Italy's 3-0 win against Hungary today eliminated the hosts and leaves the Azzurrini ahead of Armenia on goal difference, both one point in front of Belgium. To reach Northern Ireland in July, Armenia must either overcome Hungary on Tuesday in Zalaegerszeg and hope Belgium avoid defeat by Italy, or outdo any Italian victory by at least two goals. Belgium, meanwhile, must beat Italy and rely on Hungary to deny Armenia three points.
